Squamish Wedding Officiant | Whistler Steve | Julia + Dominik

It was an honour to be the Squamish wedding officiant for Julia and Dominik’s elopement in the mountains.

squamish wedding officiant performing wedding elopement ceremony in the mountains

Julia and Dominik flew in from Germany for an elopement in the truest sense of the word. They decided on a Friday morning to get married on their trip to Squamish, bought a dress and had it altered the same night. Their flight to Vancouver was at 6am Saturday morning and the following Wednesday, I was performing their wedding elopement ceremony as their Squamish wedding officiant.

Julia and Dominik reached out to our sister company Whistler Elopements for their all-inclusive elopement package. Between Tara, Paul and I, we scouted some amazing locations and chatted with Julia and Dominik about their options. We let them choose between three great options for location. One location was on a gravel bar in a river with mountain views and another was on a cliff right about Howe Sound. They chose option #3 which was the most adventurous option. With a 4×4 truck needed to access the trailhead, we put on snowshoes and walked for about 20 minutes before we crested a hill and were able to see the view. After scrambling down some big rocks, we settled on this perfect little outcropping to perform their wedding elopement ceremony.

I had written a personalized ceremony just for the two of them. Their ceremony highlighted the fact that they began their journey together a long time ago, and that their elopement is a celebration of the life they have created together. After making promises to each other, Julia and Dominik sealed their vows with the most epic first kiss. We proceeded to pop open some bubbles and toast their commitment to each other, and the journey they have been on together for the last ten years.

After taking a few more portraits of the two of them, they settled in on a quilt that I had brought with us, so that they could watch the sunset over Howe Sound and soak in the feeling of being married. It was truly an honour to be their Squamish wedding officiant and to be trusted to craft this day for them. Check out a few highlights below!

Oh my goodness, that last image is framed just PERFECTLY. I can’t imagine deciding to elope and buying a dress, then marrying each other all in the same weekend. This couple has a great sense of adventure (with photos to match their adventurous personalities)! Beautiful work.
