Djuna + Karl's Whistler Blackcomb Rendezvous Lodge Wedding

Djuna and Karl’s Rendezvous Lodge wedding was nothing short of spectacular. Both originally from BC, they built successful careers and lives before crossing paths. Karl, a former ski racer and mountain biker, had spent countless days on Whistler Blackcomb, forging friendships that ran deep – friendships that stood by his side on this day as groomsmen. Djuna grew up on Quadra Island and spent her childhood vacations in Whistler with family, falling in love with these mountains long before she knew they would become the backdrop of her wedding day.

Their wedding brought together guests from all corners of the world – some Whistler locals, others flying in from across Canada and even Poland to celebrate with them. It was a gathering that felt like a true testament to the lives they had built and the people they cherished along the way.

The day began with Djuna and Karl getting ready at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Outside, mother nature decided to show off – unleashing heavy rain that poured relentlessly all morning. But as if on cue, the skies cleared just ten minutes before the ceremony. Their ceremony took place at Rebagliati Park, transformed into a cathedral of towering trees with lush green foliage creating a natural aisle. Djuna and Karl chose not to do a first look, saving that powerful moment for the front of the altar. The emotion on Karl’s face as Djuna walked down the aisle was unforgettable.

After the ceremony, we uploaded all of their guests onto the Blackcomb gondola, champagne bottles in hand, for the ride up to their Rendezvous Lodge wedding reception. The Rendezvous Lodge, normally a bustling ski cafeteria, was completely transformed. With warm wood textures, moody lighting, and elegant decor by Bliss Events, it felt intimate and inviting – a beautiful contrast to the rugged alpine peaks outside.

We spent the evening capturing their wedding portraits at sunset. The earlier rain left behind dramatic clouds, painting the sky with soft, pastel hues. The mountains felt alive with colour, and Djuna and Karl were able to savour that peaceful moment together – away from the party, just the two of them, breathing in the alpine air and letting it all sink in.

Their Rendezvous Lodge wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are – deeply rooted in these mountains, surrounded by people they love, and ending the night with an epic dance party at the top of the world.
