Taryn + Chris’ Audain Wedding Whistler

Taryn and Chris’s wedding at the Audain will forever stand out as a highlight in my career. These two share a deep, genuine connection – the kind that radiates and pulls everyone into their orbit. From the very beginning, they placed their trust in me to document their story, and that trust felt like such a gift.
We first met for their engagement photos in true Taryn-and-Chris style – ski touring the Musical Bumps in Whistler. A full day adventure in the backcountry with bluebird skies, fresh snow, and bright sunshine. It was clear from that day how much these two value being in the mountains together.
Choosing an Audain wedding Whistler felt like a natural extension of their story. The venue is uniquely Whistler – clean architecture blending wood, steel, and forest greenery. It’s one of my favourite places to photograph: pockets of soft light, dramatic lines, and the sense of calm the forest brings.

They built an incredible vendor team and trusted us to create a mini elopement experience within their day. After their first look, while the wedding party was still getting ready, we headed up Whistler Mountain. Riding the Peak Chairlift in summer takes you right to the summit, with alpine vistas in every direction. We explored a couple of my hidden gems up there for top-of-the-world photos, creating a quiet pocket of time for them to breathe, connect, and have fun together before the celebrations began. It was extra special knowing their engagement photos were taken in the same area – the same mountain that brought them together through mutual friends and shared ski days.
On the gondola ride back down, we grabbed a drink and snack from the Roundhouse – a little pause to ground and replenish before their ceremony.

Their wedding ceremony and cocktail hour were held in the meadow at the Audain, surrounded by loved ones from across the USA. Taryn and Chris grew up in the southeastern US but now call Seattle home. After heartfelt vows and celebration in the forest meadow, dinner was held in Cressi Hall, transformed beautifully by Erin at Bliss Events. Collective Kitchen served a stunning family-style dinner while we all laughed and cried through speeches.
And then – the party. Side One Band rocked the Audain Art Museum, with Chris joining on drums for Killing in the Name Of by Rage Against The Machine. The energy shook the building, ending the night in pure joy and connection.

Here’s what Taryn shared in her Google review:
“We were gifted so much more than a photographer. Steve is thoughtful, hilarious, and made our wedding day FUN. His photos are artistic, candid, and beautifully balance modern wedding aesthetics with mountain adventure romance… We could not recommend Steve and Tara Lilly Photography more.”
Taryn + Chris, thank you for inviting me into your lives and for creating a wedding day that felt authentically, unapologetically you.
