A Ski Wedding on Whistler Mountain
Tilley + Stephen’s Mountain Elopement at Whistler Blackcomb

Some weddings feel perfectly aligned with the people at the center of them.
Tilley and Stephen’s ski wedding on Whistler Mountain was exactly that.
They didn’t choose the mountains for the views alone — they chose them because this is where their story lives.
Tilley works as a ski patroller at Whistler Blackcomb. Stephen works at Park City Resort in Utah. Two years ago, their paths crossed through a shared love of snow, mountains, and a life built outdoors. It didn’t take long for that connection to turn into something deeper — and when it came time to get married, there was never any question where it would happen.
This wasn’t just a Whistler elopement.
It was home.
Getting Married on Skis at Whistler Blackcomb
Their wedding day arrived wrapped in classic alpine conditions. The Peak of Whistler Mountain was socked in with cloud — whiteout visibility, cold air, and that quiet stillness that only exists high in the mountains.
Tilley knew exactly what she wanted.
We clipped into our skis and dropped just below the cloud layer, navigating carefully until the world opened up. Suddenly, the clouds lifted enough to reveal sweeping views toward the Cheakamus River Valley — moody, dramatic, and wildly beautiful in that unmistakable Whistler way.
It was one of those moments where the effort makes the reward feel even bigger.
A Ceremony Built for the Mountains
Under their ski gear, Tilley and Stephen wore their wedding attire — a perfect blend of practicality and intention. When it was time, they peeled off the outer layers, braved the cold, and stood together surrounded by their closest friends.
No arches. No chairs. No distractions.
Just snow, mountains, and meaning.
One of their best friends officiated the ceremony, sharing stories and guiding them through personal vows that felt deeply honest and heartfelt. There was laughter, emotion, and that calm clarity that comes when you’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
This is what I love about ski weddings and mountain elopements in Whistler — they strip everything back to what matters most.
Prosecco, Friends, and a Party Ski Lap
After the ceremony, we popped a bottle of prosecco and shared a toast right there on the mountain. Friends had travelled from around the world — for many, this was their first time in Whistler — and the sense of shared adventure made the celebration feel even more special.
Then came the best kind of transition:
a party ski lap.
We skied Peak to Creek together, laughter echoing through the trees, ending the day with an intimate dinner at Nita Lake Lodge — warm food, good wine, and stories flowing late into the night.
A wedding day that started in the clouds and ended by the lake.
Very Whistler.
