A Rainy Sea to Sky Gondola Wedding | Olivia & Sean
A Rainy Sea to Sky Gondola Wedding — Olivia & Sean
Some wedding days come with blue skies and sunsets on cue.
Others come with clouds, rain, and moments that feel even more honest because of it.
Olivia and Sean’s Sea to Sky Gondola wedding landed firmly in the second category — and it was incredible.

High school sweethearts of nine years, Olivia + Sean met through cross-country running and grew their relationship through long distance, higher education, and a shared love of being outside. Sean is now a software engineer, Olivia a physiotherapist, and together they’re the kind of couple who doesn’t take themselves too seriously — always laughing, always moving, always choosing experiences over perfection.
From Yak Peak to “I Do”
Sean proposed the way you’d expect from these two — on top of Yak Peak near the Coquihalla Summit. A gnarly hike through snow, just the two of them at the top, with a random hiker recruited ten minutes later to snap a few photos.
No crowd. No production. Just mountains, effort, and intention.
That same mindset carried straight into their wedding day.
Why the Sea to Sky Gondola Made Sense
Olivia and Sean wanted their wedding to feel like a hike — immersed in nature, a little adventurous — while still being accessible for guests with limited mobility. The Sea to Sky Gondola checked every box.
It offers alpine views without the grind, space to explore, and that feeling of being up in it without asking everyone to earn it the hard way. It’s one of my favourite venues for couples who love the outdoors but want their day to feel inclusive, relaxed, and genuinely fun.
A Rainy First Look Above Howe Sound
September in the Sea to Sky Corridor is always a bit of a gamble. This time, a low-pressure system rolled through the mountains and settled in.
Instead of fighting it, we leaned in.
Their first look at the Howe Sound Lookout was quiet, emotional, and surprisingly magical — rain falling steadily, clouds wrapping the trees, and those soft, moody tones you only get when the weather does its own thing.
Umbrellas came out. Spirits stayed high. No one melted (we’re not made of sugar).
Being inside the cloud layer gave us those fleeting, peekaboo views of the mountains and forest below — the kind that appear for a moment, disappear, then come back even better.
A Ceremony Right on Time
And then — somehow — the rain stopped.
Just in time for the ceremony.
Umbrellas down. Phones away. Everyone fully present.
With 90 guests, the Spirit Trail viewing platform was full — standing room only at the back — and the energy felt intimate in the best way. Natacha Trottier pulled double duty as both hair and makeup artist and officiant, bringing calm, warmth, and sincerity to every part of the day.
It was one of those ceremonies where nothing feels rushed, even when the clouds are moving fast.
Inside the Lodge (And One Last Look Outside)
After the ceremony, guests moved inside the lodge for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing — dry, warm, and buzzing. Laughter carried through the space, shoes were kicked off, and the day settled into that easy rhythm you hope for once the formalities are done.
There wasn’t a classic sunset — the clouds had other plans — but we did get a few brief breaks where the deck overlooking Howe Sound opened up just enough for some fun, windswept photos. The kind that feel real. The kind you remember.
When the Weather Doesn’t Cooperate — You Roll With A Rainy Sea to Sky Gondola Wedding
Olivia and Sean’s wedding is a perfect example of why flexibility matters more than forecasts.
They wanted candid, goofy moments.
They wanted nature.
They wanted to feel like themselves.
And they got all of that — rain included.
The Sea to Sky Gondola delivered an experience that felt adventurous, inclusive, and deeply them. Not despite the weather, but because they were willing to embrace whatever showed up.
Sometimes that’s where the best stories live.
